CONFIRMED: ANGELIQUE KIDJO IN KUNLE AFOLAYAN’S FORTHCOMING MOVIE, THE CEO


Two time-Grammy Award winner, Angelique Kidjo has been confirmed for a role in the next flick of award winning movie director, Kunle Afolayan. Angelique would join a robust pan-African cast in the forthcoming movie, THE CEO. Also listed to feature in the movie are top notch movie stars including Wale Ojo, who has since relocated from the United Kingdom to Nigeria with his success in the running sit-com, The Adebanjos, Nollywood actress, Hilda Dokubo and Kemi Lala Akindoju, following her fantastic portrayal of a sickle cell anaemia carrier in Tunde Kelani’s Dazzling Mirage, writes BIODUN KUPOLUYI.
Angelique based in United States of America, and globally known for her Afro centric music, E24-7 MAGAZINE reliably gathered is set to seduce film audience with her bundle of raw talent. Plans to feature her in the movie followed the fruitful talks between her agents and Kunle Afolayan in Los Angeles two months ago.
Though not her acting debut, speculations were rife that Kunle Afolayan and the Benin Republic songstress may have found a common ground in their arts when they met sometime in February 2015 on a plane from Los Angeles to New York and the duo discussed extensively on their passions- music, movies and life. In appreciation of that historic moment their paths crossed, they exchanged their works as souvenirs.
The encounter with the Grammy Award winner was shortly after the October 1 director met with Oscar winning actor, Denzel Washington at the last edition of the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles. USA. Afolayan who described the trip to Los Angeles as the journey of a life, said he had useful and meaningful conversation with Denzel on his next project, THE CEO and he looked forward to coming to Lagos.
Apparently listed for a major role, Angelique with a huge following in Nigeria is coming to shoot in a familiar turf. During her last visit to Nigeria in March, she joined StarBoy’s singer, Wizkid in the studio to bless him with her vocals on a song he was recording. She had also  collaborated with Asa on a song.
It could also be recalled that she made a star appearance at the grand finale of the second edition of the Etisalat Prize for Literature at the Intercontinental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
As the world awaits the world press conference to unveil the of full list of sponsors, cast and crew on the list of THE CEO on Tuesday,  Afolayan who has just returned from a short trip to New York, may spring more faces, more  surprises.
