Toyin Aimakhu’s Ex Calls for Nollywood Producers to Boycott her in Movies

Some breakups are bad and some are quite hard to come back from.

This seems to the case between Nollywood actress Toyin Aimakhu and her ex-boyfriend Seun Egbegbe. He called on Nollywood producers to boycott Toyin Aimakhu in their movies and he went as far as threatening them if they ever put her in their movies.
Toyin & Seun in happier times
In the interview he said;
I am saying this for the first time, it’s over between Toyin Aimakhu and I, and I mean it. And I am also using this medium to warn all movie producers to stay away from her. Anybody that deals with her, the person is on his or her own. And I will act appropriately. Toyin Aimakhu’s career is finished as far as Yoruba movie sector is concerned, unless she corrects the erroneous impression she has given the public about my person. How can a person l call my girl friend accuse me of kidnapping her? What does she want to gain from that? And she said her Personal Assistant typed the message. If that’s true, where was she? And when she noticed it, why didn’t she withdraw it immediately before the whole thing went viral? So, I believe she has something hidden. I am repeating it, no producer must deal with her again. Any producer that doesn’t heed the warning will find him or herself to blame. It’s not a threat, it’s a promise.”
So far, Toyin has not reacted to the reports.
Toyin and Seun’s relationship was played out scene by scene on social media for her fans to see. Things escalated for the two after he allegedly “kidnapped” her and her phones from a movie set recently.

Yoruba Name Not For Your Daughter - Brazilian Officials Tell Couple

Cizinho Afreeka and Jéssica desired to name their daughter “Makeda Foluke.” This is because they have roots with the Yoruba culture, but when they went to register their newborn daughter’s name, they were turned down.

Officials at the registration office in Rio de Jainero, Brazil stated that the baby’s name made “no sense at all” when pronounced in Portuguese and that it “could provide possible future suffering for the person in social life.”

Foluke’s parents believe that the real reason their daughter’s chosen name was denied was because of racism, according to BlackWomenofBrazil.co, where this story was first published

“It’s a form of racism that takes place in Brazil: the racism of subtleties,” Afreeka said. “It should be very natural a man and a Black woman adopting an African name, as the country is made up of three races. It is difficult to prove. Only those in this skin knows.”

But the officials have insisted that racism isn’t the problem; it was the name. As in it is in their practice, whenever a child is named, officials have to check whether or not the name could affect the child negatively later in life. This has led many parents to choose European-sounding names.

Makeda’s parents are left with no choice but to appeal to a judge to see if they can officially give her an African name. However, if things don’t turn out well, they insist that they’re not changing their mind.

“I will keep on until the end,”Afreeka said. “Either it will be Makeda Foluke or she’ll be with no registration.”

Makeda was what the Ethiopians called the rainha de Sabá (Queen of Sheba). Foluke is a Yoruba name. The girl’s name was decided early in the pregnancy.

Dance Queen Kaffy Dishes on why she’s moved away from making music

Kaffy Dance Promo - April 2015 5

Many know Kafayat Shafau Ameh aka Kaffy to be a dance instructor, choreographer and fitness coach but did you know she also once added ‘musician’ to her name? The mom of two in a chat with BellaNaija’s Abisola Alawode revealed amongst other things her reasons for dabbling into music and her plans to perform with even bigger stars than Ciara.
On why she’s stopped making music…for now:
Originally, I’m more of a dance person. My doing music was not an experiment rather; the industry was not developed enough for the kind of stuff I wanted to do. If I was to focus more on my artist side and I abandon the dance part, there would be a vacuum. I mean, today dance has achieved a high level of popularity. There is hardly any facet of the entertainment industry today that doesn’t feature dance.  But professionally, dance in Nigeria hasn’t gotten to the part where it’ll begin to pay like music does. For example, dance alone can’t get you a house in Banana Island. For me, I would like to do music to interpret visuals. I’m not going to do music because I want to be a Beyoncé. I’d do music because I would like to wow you with the visual effect of the sound. We are already in an era of copyright apart from that, for how long would I dance to other people’s music? So you can say I wanted to create dance moves to my own music.
On her recent performance with international star Ciara:
I see my self performing with even bigger stars than Ciara. I have seen stars rise and fall. So I don’t think the likes of Beyoncé, Rihanna or Ciara are the biggest stars I would still work with. My performance with Ciara is a great stepping stone and is a confirmation of the dream I’d had that this dance is going to go international. A time is coming where there would be a global market where we can culturally exchange ideas. And now that our music has crossed over and is winning fans internationally, the sky is the limit for us. I mean Ciara came to Lagos and felt it. It was a very simple move but it had a lot of spirit and I’m glad she appreciated it

Chained Generator Spotted In A Police Station.... Photo

This is quite shocking...a place which should be the "safest" in the country is actually not safe...When the police which are meant to protect lives and properties of citizens are not even sure of their own security, then there is a very big problem in the country... This was spotted right in one of the police stations in the country -a generator set firmly CHAINED to a window protector due to fear of prowling thieves. The main question on the lips of Nigerians is 'Which thieves are the police scared of, internal or external?'

Customs To Re-Introduce Ban On Importation Of Rice Through Land Borders

1

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced its readiness to re-introduce the restriction order on importation of rice through land borders, which was reversed in October 2015, by Hameed Ali, Comptroller-General of Customs.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by Wale Adeniyi, Public Relations Officer, NCS, who revealed that the dwindling revenue from rice imports through the land borders does not match the volume of rice that berthed at the ports of neighbouring countries, which indicates an increase in the success of rice smuggling into the country.

Adeniyi disclosed that the implementation of the restriction order got off to a smooth start, with a high level of compliance in October 2015 but experienced dwindling revenue from January 2016 with suggestions that a lack of access to forex was responsible for the lack of imports.
“During the five-month period when the importation was allowed through the land border that was from October 2015 to March 17 2016, a total of 24.992 metric tons of rice valued at N2.3 billion was imported through the land borders,” Adeniyi said.
“Also, a total revenue of N1.7 billion was generated from the imports, which was considerably lower than the revenue projected to be generated with the removal of import restrictions.

“In the first two months of the 2016, a total of 9,238 bags were seized, with duty paid value of N65 million, was made by the Customs anti-smuggling patrol teams of the Federal Operations and Border Commands.

Thus, he issued a directive for zero-tolerance to rice imports through the land borders, irrespective of volume with immediate adding that importers who have started import processes would be given an allowance till Friday, March 25, 2016 to clear their consignments.

He observed that the Comptroller-General is of the opinion that his officers and men couldn’t be totally exonerated from the abuse associated with the implementation of the order on rice, as his office had been inundated with reports of collusion between Customs’ men and rice importers.
“As a result, he directed investigation into the reports, insisting that indicted personnel will be sanctioned,” Adeniyi declared.

FG Says It’s Willing To Inject N350bn Into The Economy To Revive It

Kemi-Adeosun-OnoBello

The Federal Government has revealed its intention to inject N350 billion into the economy in a bid to revive the ailing sectors, particularly by reclaiming the jobs of Nigerians who were once employed.

This was revealed by Kemi Adeosun, Minister of Finance, as she addressed reporters at the end of the two-day national economic council retreat revealing that issues aimed at restoring hope to Nigerians were discussed.

She declared that the government had embarked on plans to ensure that the 1.97 million Nigerians who have become unemployed since President Muhammadu Buhari came to power as a result of the current economic situation are re-employed.
“We are already discussing with some of the contractors who will be paid these monies and the objectives from the overall criteria is how many Nigerians would be re-engaged,” she said.

“We are specifically looking at contractors who have laid off staff and how many Nigerians are you going to put back to work as a result of this money that we are planning to release and we believe that this would bring significant economic activity.
“The general resolve of the house and consensus was that there was a need to bring in more cost efficiency in their operations. In particular, to look at the setting up of the efficiency unit within the state governments, to rationalise expenditure and of course to increase internally generated revenue (IGR).
“To that end there was a need to generate data because data is the basis of any revenue collecting efforts. The Federal and State Inland Revenue Services collaborate to do join audits to invest in revenue, relevant technology and efforts to improve collection.
“There is a need to develop incentives for both federal and state revenue generating agencies to ensure that there is an alignment of interest.
“There is a focus at state level on property and consumption taxes to help in improving revenue in a fair manner. Tax payer education must be intensified and to expand the tax base and ensure that there is a buy-in in the revenue collection agencies from the populace.”

Father Brutalises His Own Children In Lagos (photos)

Cases of child abuse is gradually growing with alarming proportions as even parents who gave birth to these kids end up being their tormentors.

Another of such cases was recorded at the Nigeria Airforce Medical Center, Ikeja, Lagos State, when two children were rushed there after being brutalized by their father and guardian.

This is what an On Air Personality,
Micah Aruocha aka MC Ice Water , posted on his Facebook wall on the incident:
"So I was just hanging around to settle some bills (mumsie came to rest a bit) at the Nigeria Airforce Medical Center, and my colleague, Lolade Keisha aka Slimmytee, who stays at the base, decided to come give me moral support and here comes these kids with a man towing along, known to be a neighbour, Hon Olalekan .

And Slimytee's journalistic instincts swings into action thereby gingering mine into taking pictures while she goes about getting all the facts."

"The gist is this.
The man who did such to these kids - the boy - Ibrahim Azeez (14) and the girl - Shukara Azeez (15), is actually the boy's father and an uncle to the girl.

He's an Okada (Commercial motorcyclist) rider and practically more of a thug (according to the good neighbour). He lives at 7, Dele Obilade close, Mafoluku, Oshodi, and has already been handed over to the policemen on duty at Shogunle Police Post.

The children said they were asleep, when their Dad - Mr Azeez , came in and started using various objects on them and of course, the resultant effect is the pictures you have here.

Asked after their mummy and they said she doesn't stay with them anymore and of course, they are used to this type of beating even though this is the most fatal of all in the series of such.

This is hoping Human Rights Activists won't allow this man go unpunished as the police men might want to handle this with kids gloves.

Photographer files N120m suit against 2face & Annie for alleged Breach of Agreement

A photographer named Emmanuel Okolo, has dragged singer Tuface Idibia, his wife Annie, and one Antonio Anifite before a Federal High Court in Lagos in a N120 million copyright infringement suit ‎for allegedly using photographs he took of them at their traditional wedding in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State in 2013, without giving him credit as the owner of the photos.

According to a report by Channels TV, in the suit which was filed before Justice Mohammed Idris, Emmanuel claims that during the couple's wedding in 2013, he took some photographs and watermarked them using his company name. Emmanuel says that some days after the wedding, Annie contacted him and asked for the photographs which he immediately sent to her. Upon receiving his photos, he said Annie complained about his watermark on the photos and asked that they be removed. He said Annie sent Antonio Anifite to negotiate with him.

He claims that he immediately released the photos to Antonio free of charge with the understanding that when it will be uploaded on Tuface's personal website, “2faceonline.com”, he will be duely credited. Emmanuel says he was surprised to find out that when the photos where uploaded, 148 out of the 355 high resolution photographs he took were uploaded with "2faceonline.com" watermark on them.

Emmanuel who claims to be a certified film maker from the prestigious London Film Academy and a holder of a Masters of Arts degree from Cardiff School of Creative and Cultural Industries, South Wales, United Kingdom, says he suffered general and exemplary damages which he is seeking 120 million Naira compensation from 2face, Annie and Anifite.

However in a counter suit filed by the Idibia's for which they are claiming N150 million in damages, they say Emmanuel was never invited by them to take photos at their wedding, that he was just one of the many uninvited p‎hotographers who came to their wedding to make some money via photography.

The Idibia's in their suit, say that after their wedding, they noticed strange copies of their wedding photos in circulation with Emmanuel's studio watermark on them and after finding out they were taken by him, they approached him, expressing their displeasure. ‎He apologized and also forced the photos on the Idibia's, saying he wants them to use it so he can leverage on their popularity.

They however made him understand that the only way they will use the photos was for his watermarks to be completely removed. This he allegedly agreed to. The Idibia's say they were shocked when after uploading the photographs, he wrote a pre-litigation letter to them demanding that his watermarks be boldly inscribed across the photographs and a letter of apology. The Idibia's say the photos were immediately pulled down from 2face’s official website as the watermarked photos would distort the original idea of his website.

“The second plaintiff (Okolo), through his several guile, deceit, cunning gate-crashing and opportunistic posturing carefully planned and orchestrated the entire events leading to the institution of this suit with the express intention of embarrassing, harassing and blackmailing the first and third defendants (Annie and 2face) with a view to extorting money from them,” they further claimed in their counter-claim.

They accused the photographer of having a premeditated plan to blackmail them and extort money from them. They urged the judge to order Okolo and his studio to pull down all the photographs of them that the photographer had circulated.‎ They are also praying the court to order Okolo and his studio to “render forthwith, account as well as make full and frank disclosure of all sums and profit made by them as a result of unauthorised commercial usage” of their photographs.‎
