Man Beaten By Police In Adamawa In Coma (Photos) -

According to this trending report, a young man identified as Kabiru Ahmed was allegedly brutalized by policemen of Doubeli police station in Jimeta, Adamwa state. The victim who has reportedly been in coma for 2 weeks now -is currently hospitalized at the Federal Medical Center in Yola...

Read below what a Facebook User (Mustapha Atiku Ribadu) shared;

POLICE BRUTALITY AGAIN!! WE MUST FIGHT AGAINST IT.
A couple of years I wrote here on how police brutalised our friend named Mallum from Song LG, Mallum died as a result of the manhandling by the police at Galbose hospital here in Jimeta. From the time he was brutalised he had not said a word to anyone till he gave up. May Allah forgive Mallum.

All guys from Song knows him he lived at the house of late Abdulsalam Song, at that time we tried our best to bring the culprits to book I even went to Jos and met Barr Solomon Dalung the present minister of youths, he assisted a big deal, he even came to Yola, though eventually the guardian of late Mallum asked us to abandon the case, we really appreciate the effort of Dalung and some spirited individuals, we also need the assistance of people who hates brutality including the Hon minister too to bring the recent perpetrators of brutality to book.

The recent brutality was perpetrated by policemen from Doubeli police station here in Jimeta. The event happened on the 16th of this month(May).A guy named Kabiru Ahmed a graduate of crime management from state polytechnic Yola was brutalised that day around 10am, from that day up to now the guy is unconscious. According to eyewitness report the guy was sitting with some other young men in front of their house at Zaranda street here in Jimeta, just of a sudden police appeared in mufti and rounded them, Kabiru inquire to know their identity which didn't go down well with the officers .

From there they picked him and rough handled him to the point of unconsciousness, they then used his phone to trace his family at about 1am , failing to get any they took him to specialist hospital unconscious, while at the specialist hospital NLC went on strike, the police the hospital referred him to federal medical centre,Yola (FMC), the police then moved him there still unconscious. As iam writing this the guy is still unconscious at the accident and emergency centre of the hospital.

It's touching as I went to FMC today around 5pm seeing him in that condition, he is been fed through his nose using some small rubber pipes, what a pity. For those of us living in Yola pls visit the guy at FMC and see the result of wickedness from people who are supposed to protect us.I urged all well meaning individuals to come and join hands with us to the culprits to book through legal means, and let us not take the law into our hands but let's not relent until justice is done .

Kabiru is unconscious for two weeks, Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun.

We shouldn't see this case as a case of just Kabiru and his family, tomorrow it maybe you or your brother.Where injustice become the order of the day silence is a CRIME!!!

10 Incorrect Notions Nollywood Sells To Us

Tripican Nollywood Actors of 2015 - BellaNaija - December 2015006

Nollywood films satisfy their fans through entertainment, education and motivation; but most of their scenes seem to be fake i.e. no reality. Most of what they present to us in some of the scenes are mostly unrealistic and sometimes too predictable. For example, will a Yoruba movie be completed without the visit to any Baba? All we watch is all about money rituals, witches, and wizards. Some of the films don’t portray the truth people want and that is why some people lost their interest of watching Nollywood movies and switch to foreign movies.

The education aspects in film are not featured nowadays. Anybody can just sit down and form a story line then put it in acting without proper editing. In fact, some of the popular songs by musicians are used as story line, which has no message for the viewers. The story line of the past seems better than this present one. The video quality is another problem the Nollywood films are facing. Some of these movies are not clear enough to watch due to the picture quality and recording.

Here are some of the things which we watch on Nollywood film that are not true.

1. Recently, I watched a film where the armed robbers attacked a chief’s house. The armed robbers just appeared in the room. Nobody knows how they entered through the gate. If we have to relate that with what is happening in real life, the armed robbers will have to ask the victim to open the door and if he refuses then they will break in. Another thing that surprises me is that they will have to cock the modern gun two to three times before shooting and after the shot which is always at the chest, there is no sign of blood stain on the victim.

2. The accident scene is also a part which is very funny to me. Imagine, a man was just driving then a spirit appeared on the road and the man was unable to control the steering then park at the side of the road. The next thing we are going to see is blood all over his body.

3. Witches run mad or die when confessing. Why is it that any time the witches in Nollywood films are confessing they either run mad or die? This is very common in the Nollywood film, when you see a witch confessing and after the confession they either die or run mad. We have heard about so many wicked ones who confess their wicked act and nothing happened to them in our society. Even after the confession some of them work for God. So, what message are they passing across to us? After confession is death? These are some of the untrue scenes in Nollywood films.

4. If the police in Nollywood film want to arrest a suspect, why are they so aggressive and more efficient? There is a common saying “police are your friend”. But that is not the case in Nollywood. When they want to arrest, they take it as if they want to arrest a criminal by pointing the gun to the suspect and treat him badly before getting to the station.

5. I will also mention the aspect of flash back in Nollywood movies. Flashbacks are always in black and white. It is only in Nollywood movies that will show Yinka Quadri ten years ago making phone call at the side of the road and a bill board close to him inscribe “Vote Buhari 2015”. And their future scenes are always between 2 to 15 years after.

6. Also, the hospital scene aspect in Nollywood film looks unprofessional. They will just find a small room and a small bed nothing more. Then, the only thing the doctors in Nollywood movies will use to treat a patient with heart failure, typhoid, malaria etc is placing the stethoscope on their chest and that’s all. It is also common in a police station scene whereby just one room and a desk is used as office.

7. Grandmothers are wicked.
Nollywood movies also make us believe in most of their films that grandmothers are wicked, in particularly the husband’s mother. In Nollywood movies, the grandmothers are always the ones that do evil to their son’s wife if he refuses to marry the wife of choice. So, they have made it known to the female youth that are yet to marry, that their husbands’ mothers are wicked. This is not true.

8. Traditional idol worshippers are evil.
80% of the Nollywood movies that I have watched, the traditional idol worshippers are the only ones who carry out evil act. They condemn this particular religion in most of their films. In Nigeria, we have three major types of religion, the Christian, Muslim, and the traditional worshippers. So, they should not condemn any of them, because they all have their way of worship.

9. Illness are caused by curses.
Barrenness, mental, malaria etc illnesses are caused by curses in Nollywood films. So, they advise people not to seek medical attention but rather visit the native doctors for help. This has polluted so many minds that they don’t believe in going to the hospital for medical if they have any type of these illness because they watch it on their home video.

10. The only way to get rich is through rituals.
In most of the Nollywood films, the only way to get rich in life is through rituals. 99% of people who are poor in their movies later end up doing rituals in order to get rich.
In conclusion, Nollywood industry in Nigeria should work on their storylines. Script writers should improve on their research and they should provide enough funding for their movies. Also, genuine talented actors should be made use of in their films in order to provide better production for their fans. They should also give more suspense to their movies so as to hold the interest of the viewers.

37-Year-Old Man Marries 12-Year-Old Girl

Herbalist marries off 12-year-old grandchild to drunkard •I’m afraid grandpa’ll give me out to another man – Victim
In yet another case of child marriage, the police in Lagos have arrested a 37-year-old man, Michael Ugwu, for taking a 12-year-old orphan, identified simply as Nneka (not real name) as a wife. She was given out in marriage by her grandfather, identified as Abada, a native doctor in Enugu State.

The girl and Ugwu, who claims to work as a police SPY official at a federal ministry in Lagos, both hail from Aji in Enugu Ezike town, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.

A police source hinted that Ugwu, had gone to the Ipaja Police Division, Lagos to report that “his wife” ran away from home and had since been missing, but that it was until they found the girl, through the help of one of his neighbours, that they knew he actually got married to a minor.

Ugwu was then detained.

“He came and reported that his wife absconded and that he even took a loan from a bank to marry her. He even sounded drunk when he came to the station. When we saw the minor he called wife, we had to detain him to get more information, because a 12-year-old girl is not ripe for marriage, so we had to ask him more questions,” the source said.

Ugwu told our correspondentthat the girl’s grandfather willingly gave her out to him in marriage at their hometown in Enugu State. He added that there was a traditional marriage to that effect on January 20, 2016 in the village, attended by about 50 persons, including community elders, the girl’s grandfather and other villagers.

He noted he never saw anything wrong with taking the girl as a wife because there were elders at the event and they gave their blessings to the union, adding that the girl’s grandfather, who also happened to be his old time friend, had assured him that the girl was “not a small girl.”

Clearing his throat intermittently, his account of the story was like listening to a thriller. He explained that he had been under pressure from his family members to get married, and when he visited the village earlier in the year, he and Abada, whom he described as a retired Biafran soldier, went to have a drink.Ugwu said he paid the bills and told his friend he needed a woman to marry.

He continued, “Abada was happy I paid for his drinks, and he assured me he would introduce me to a girl. He said I might not be able to take care of a woman he wanted to give me but that he had another one for me. The following morning, I visited him with a friend of mine.

“He asked for N500 and I gave him. Around 10pm, he brought a girl to my house. I was about sleeping then. He said the girl he brought for me is his child and that he would want me to marry from their place. I asked if the girl is up to the right age, he said yes; that she was not a small girl. He said he needed to give the girl out in marriage so that she would not get unwanted pregnancy. I said okay.

“He brought the girl again the following morning. He asked that I shook hands with the girl and I did. He said I should not joke with the offer because someone else had even shown interest in the girl but that he wanted me to marry her. He said I should come with one carton each of beer and malt to ‘knock the door’ as the tradition demands. We call it ‘Omenala’. He gave me the list of items to buy for the introduction.”

Ugwu told our correspondent in company with the director of Esther Child Rights Foundation, Esther Ogwu, that due to the number of things he had to buy and the money for the dowry, he took a loan of N200,000 from his bank.

In his words, “During my first visit, I went with one carton of beer and malt. During my second visit for the introduction, the items I bought, according to the list I was given, included a jar of palm wine worth N30,000, eight cartons of beer worth N16,000, two cartons of malt worth N3,000, amount spent on cooking to entertain the guests cost N11,000, two laps of pig meat worth N6,000, 30 kolanuts worth N2,800, two packets of cigarette worth N400 and dowry of N33,000. I was there with some of my family members.

“At the event, even though she didn’t give me wine as required traditionally and we didn’t put on same attire, Abada gave her to me and told us to kneel down and he prayed for us. He said he expected us to come back with children. The two times the girl was brought to my house and on the day of the introduction, she wore high heels, which made her look taller and mature.

“At that time, I didn’t see her as too young, and as our elders in the village supported it, I thought it was right. I am a heavy drinker, maybe that is why I was confused and the pressure from my people to get married made me to rush into it. Then, the girl’s grandfather is a herbalist, I don’t know whether he covered my eyes because now I regret my actions.

“I came back to Lagos with the girl in February. I think I was hypnotised for me to have taken that loan because now, my salary is being deducted monthly to pay back the loan.”

Asked whether he had been having sexual relationship with the girl as her husband, he said he had never slept with her, but that he made the attempt twice but he was not successful, as he could not penetrate, so he left her.

In what seemed like a deep regret of his actions, Ugwu queried why he had to marry a minor when there were many “big and mature girls” in Lagos that he could marry. “I think the man used a charm to hypnotise me,” he explained, saying, “Otherwise, how would I have married such a young girl without knowing it.”

He told Saturday PUNCH, “That is part of the reasons why I regret my actions. I love the girl but she didn’t respond when I tried ‘it’ because there was ‘no way’. How would I have a wife at home and I would still go out to satisfy myself (sexually). A doctor even advised me not to sleep with her because she was too young to be pregnant. I made two attempts to sleep with her but no way. I didn’t force her. In my life, I had never deflowered any woman.”

Meanwhile, the issue took a dramatic turn when Ugwu’s pastor in church paid him a visit and found the girl in his house. He said the pastor was shocked to know she was his wife and that he was ordered to take the girl back to her parents.

“My pastor said if I needed a wife, I should go and look for another woman,” he added.

He said when he told Nneka to prepare to go back home, based on his pastor’s advice, the girl said she wasn’t ready to go until December. He pointed out that he didn’t know the girl was planning to run away.

On the day she ran away, the 37-year-old civil servant, who said he had never been married before then, said he was with a friend around the house, when she came to collect the key to the house, that she forgot hers inside and that by the time he got back home, she had packed all her belongings. He said he informed his pastor and then reported to the police.

He said it was few days after she ran away from home that Abada called him to return his granddaughter. “He said I stole his granddaughter and that I should give the phone to the girl that he wanted to talk to her but I told him he would talk to her later because that was when the girl was missing,” he added.

A police source who briefed our correspondent further said the girl, who had been kept in safe custody, ran to stay with a woman, a petty trader, in their area.

The source added, “We asked why she ran away, she said the man had tried to sleep with her twice but she couldn’t take it, so after the second attempt, she ran to a woman whose daughter she had met in Ayobo earlier. She said there was a time she had no money to feed and she had to sell the radio she brought from the village to raise money for food.

“She confirmed to us that her grandfather gave her out in marriage to the man. She told us Abada had also wanted to give her sister out in marriage but she ran away from home and they had yet to know her whereabouts till date. The girl told us she would have loved to go back to the village, but she fears her grandfather might give her out to another man.

“She is an orphan and she and her sister had been in the care of Abada, their grandfather, since they lost their parents. She confirmed to us that she is 12 years old, and even people in their compound told us she used to play with other children in the compound, because she is still small.

“We asked a retired officer in that area of Enugu State if that was the practice there, but he said no, and that it was not a norm in their village. Meanwhile, a lawyer from the village said that sort of marriage is not out of place. We were shocked to hear a lawyer say that.”

“Ugwu’s sister said when he told them he took a loan, they thought he would use it to develop his house in the village, but that when he told them he had got married, they were happy for him, but that when they saw the wife, they knew something was wrong.

Ugwu said he might not have made the mistake if his mother were to be hale and hearty as she would have advised him, but that she had been sick for a long time.

In her reaction, Ogwu, who had taken up the matter for the intervention of the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, commended the police for doing a good job, saying the case was clearly one of child abuse. “However, we need to make sure that the grandfather is brought to book. The girl is an underage because she is just 12. We call on the Enugu State Police Command to ensure that Abada is arrested and prosecuted accordingly, for giving out a 12-year-old girl in marriage,” she added.

Currently, the girl is in the custody of WAPA, while the Lagos Public Advice Centre has also intervened in the matter.

On the step to be taken by WAPA on the issue, the director of Children Affairs in the Ministry, Mrs. Alaba Fadairo, promised to get back to our correspondent.

Also, when contacted, the Spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, DolapoBadmos, had yet to pick her calls.

His Enugu State counterpart, Ebere Amaraizu, said the command would swing into action as soon as it is briefed by the Lagos State Command or a formal report is made to the command on the matter.

6 Ways Men Are Killing Their Sperm Unknowingly

More and more men are finding it hard to produce these days. It is not that they are not sweating enough, or that they are “unhealthy”, but something is wrong. Though other factors contribute, damaged sperm is a major reason for many a couple’s infertility issues.
In many cases, the man’s weapon may be the reason for losing the childbearing war. Researchers have shown that a man’s lifestyle can affect the quality and quantity of his sperm, hence fertility issues.
Anyway, here are some ways men unwittingly cause the damage:

1 – Leaving stress unattended to. A man who is always stressed, maybe due to overworking, is inadvertently killing his swimmers. Every body function, including sperm production, is affected by stress. Researchers found out that men with anxiety issues tend to have abnormally shaped sperm and sperm with mobility issues. Now, an immobile sperm is useless because they have to swim far to marry an egg for conception.

2 – Drinking too much. Alcohol is a big enemy of sperm. In fact, the British Medical Journal suggests that having as little as five drinks (alcohol) weekly can ‘adversely affect’ to Fluid quality.

3 – Smoking too much. Blowing the smoke always has a negative impact on sperm quality. However, a  researcher says, once a man quits, his system immediately starts generating healthier sperm.

4 - Piling up extra weight. Being fit has a lot of advantages. Being fat lowers sperm production and can cause erectile dysfunction (ED) or impotence? Losing just a little amount of weight can help.

5 – Staying too much in hot areas. Being exposed to too much heat regularly has dire consequences for a man’s sperm. A welder for example might be at risk. A man’s genital region needs to be cooler than the other parts of the body, not hotter.

6 – Always carrying a phone in the front pocket. Studies have shown that there is the radiation a mobile phone emits so close to the scrotal area causes as much a 9% drop in live sperm per Fluid sample. So it better to hold the phone or carry it in a case or, at worse, the back pocket.

If you have hopes of getting a child in the future, now might be a time to be conscious of your lifestyle, instead of worrying later.

Alcohol, fat, smoking, stress and all the other factors must be monitored.

5 Nigerian Stews, Sauces You Can Make Without Tomatoes

Tomatoes is a favourite staple in Nigeria, and so, a large number of people who cannot cope with the inflation in its price are hesitant to make the widely enjoyed stew and are now seeking alternative ways to make sauces with which to complement their daily meals.
In a bid to find a solution, we have put together a list of 5 economical, local stews and sauces that can be made without tomatoes.

Garden egg sauce
A very popular delicacy in the southern parts of the country, Garden egg sauce can substitute for the tomato stew any day. The basic ingredients needed include: Garden eggs (either purple “aubergine”, white or green), palm oil, smoked fish, ground pepper (either chili or scotch bonnet), iru (rinsed), onion, crayfish and salt to taste. It can be used to eat rice, yam or plantain.
Banga stew
Popularly referred to as Ofe Akwu, banga stew is a palm nut stew native to the Igbo tribe of Nigeria. While making this stew can take a lot of time as you have to extract the palm oil juice from the palm nuts, it is usually worth the stress in the end as the taste is absolutely yummy. The only ingredients you need include: palm fruits or palm fruit concentrate, beef, dry fish, vegetable (scent leaves for ofe akwu or dried and crushed bitter leaves for Delta-style banga soup), onions, crayfish, stock cubes, iru, salt and chilli pepper (to taste).

Ofada stew
Also called “Ayamase”, Ofada stew that is usually made to go with a special kind of local rice referred to as Ofada rice. The sauce can however be used to eat normal white rice, yam, plantain and even spaghetti. The sauce is pretty easy to make and the only ingredients you need include: unripe habanero peppers, green tatashe or green bell peppers, locust bean seasoning (iru, ogiri okpei or dawadawa), red palm oil, onion, crayfish, assorted meat and fish.

Miyan Kuka
A delicacy from the northern part of the country, Miyan Kuka is also known as the Boabab leaf stew. It is a favorite of the Hausa tribe and is usually served with white rice. The key ingredients for preparing this stew include : beef, onion, dried fish, hot peppers (washed, soaked and flaked), kuka [baobab] leaves (pounded to paste), dawadawa(fermented dried seeds of the African locust bean pressed into a ball or a cake), yaji(suya seasoning), a pinch of potash, palm oil, seasoning cubes and of course, salt to taste.

Pumpkin leaf sauce
Pumpkin leaf, otherwise known as Ugu, is one of most widely used vegetables in Nigeria. Pumpkin leaf sauce which is not only very tasty but also very healthy is basically a sautee of fluted pumpkin leaf and onions. It certainly does not taste a long time to cook. The ingredients needed include: chopped pumpkin leaves, seasoned beef or chicken, sliced to strips (optional), meat stock, vegetable oil, chilli pepper, onion bulb, seasoning and salt to taste.

5 Best Ways To Dress For A Job Interview

In a job interview, you only get to give one impression as far as image and presentation is concerned. Your grooming creates an image of your personality. Therefore, you need to dress in a way that you present yourself as the best fit for the job.

Getting the right outfit can be frustrating, that’s why we are here to help you. Read the following 5 tips to help you get the right idea of how you should dress for your next interview

1. Your dressing depends on the industry
How you dress for an interview majorly depends on the kind of job you are applying for as well as their Corporate culture. A suit is not necessarily the best choice for any interview.
If you are applying for a job in financial services, then you’ll be required to be in a suit. On the other hand, if you applied for a mechanic position, dressing in a suit would be quite inappropriate.
The dressing code for an Insurance company would definitely be different from a Telecommunications company. Understand the culture of the company before you dress in a manner that would make you feel out of place and uncomfortable.

2. Dress in clothes that fit you well
Don’t be one of those candidates who attend interviews dressed in clothes that are either one size smaller or one size larger than them.
For ladies, don’t put on a tight skirt that makes it hard for you to move around, or a short skirt that you’ll have to keep pulling it down. For men, put on a suit that fits you well that you don’t have to keep adjusting your belt all the time.

3. Be Always Neat in a Job Interview
Don’t attend an interview with wrinkled clothes. Clean and press your clothes the day before the interview. Nothing turns off interviewers as an unkempt candidate. Hygiene and good grooming is essential. Avoid flashy jewelries.

4. Wear comfortable shoes
Interviews tend to take longer than intended. Put on shoes that can allow you to stand for long hours. It’s inappropriate to attend an interview with the shoes you would probably wear to a club.
A reasonably heeled shoe is flattering and helps you present a professional image. Again, if the company allows casual dressing, then you have more options than those in the corporate world.

5. Avoid strong Fragrances and perfumes
Some people are allergic to strong scents. So keep this in mind when dressing for an interview. Avoid the use of strong scents that can cause an allergic reaction and have the panel sneezing their guts out.

5 Ways to Be a Good Listener to Your Kids

When a sound wave travels through the ear canal, it vibrates the eardrum, which causes three tiny bones to quiver, which jiggles the inner ear fluid. Tiny hair cells then convert the wave into an electrical signal to the brain, which filters different sounds into recognizable patterns. It sounds pretty complicated, doesn’t it? Yet this is how humans hear. But how do we listen? Well, listening then takes the recognized pattern and concentrates on its meaning and asks follow up questions. It may even repeat what was said for clarification. Make no mistake about it. Hearing is a biological miracle, but listening is an acquired skill. Here are 5 ways to be a good listener to your kids:

According to research on listening skills, being a good listener means focusing attention on the message and reviewing the important information. Parents can model good listening behavior for their children and advise them on ways to listen as an active learner, pick out highlights of a conversation, and ask relevant questions. Sometimes it helps to “show” children that an active listener is one who looks the speaker in the eye and is willing to turn the television off to make sure that the listener is not distracted by outside interference.
  1. Be interested and attentive. Children can tell whether they have a parent’s interest and attention by the way the parent replies or does not reply. Forget about the telephone and other distractions. Maintain eye contact to show that you really are with the child.
  2. Encourage talking. Some children need an invitation to start talking. Children are more likely to share their ideas and feelings when others think them important.
3.Listen patiently. People think faster than they speak. Children often take longer than adults to find the right word. Listen as though you have plenty of time.
4.Hear children out. Avoid cutting children off before they have finished speaking. It is easy to form an opinion or reject children’s views before they finish what they have to say. It may be difficult to listen respectfully and not correct misconceptions, but respect their right to have and express their opinions.
5.Listen to nonverbal messages. Many messages children send are communicated nonverbally by their tone of voice, their facial expressions, their energy level, their posture, or changes in their behavior patterns. You can often tell more from the way a child says something than from what is said. When a child comes in obviously upset, be sure to find a quiet time then or sometime later.

Ikeja City Mall Developer, Michael Chudi Ejekam Accused Of Extortion

Michael Chudi Ejekam, a real estate developer, previously entwined in at least one other real estate fraud case, finds himself in the middle of another similar action. In this case, Ejekam has been tied to former NBA star Tate George and his real estate Ponzi scheme. George recently received a 9-year prison sentence for his part in the scam and Ejekam may face similar action.

George and Ejekam worked on several deals together while Ejekam was employed with the Bayrock Group, headquartered in New York City but with deals in other parts of the country as well. Together, Ejekam and George pushed several fraudulent real estate deals, bilking unsuspecting investment victims of amounts numbering in the millions. In this process, they utilized Donald Trump’s name and brand in order to squeeze out higher payouts from investors.

In the midst of the George controversy, Chudi Ejekam also finds himself in another, more high-profile legal battle. In this, he sides with Jody Kriss, the former CFO of the Bayrock Group. Ejekam is believed to have fled New York and the United States for Nigeria in an attempt to escape the career and legal consequences of this lawsuit. He relocated to Lagos, Nigeria, where he worked as the West Africa Director of Real Estate for Actis.

Actis is the developer of many of Nigeria’s largest malls and shopping complexes, and also manages several large investments in Africa. Once Actis was given word of Ejekam’s legal troubles, the trail of paperwork, and all that those entailed, he was quickly removed from employment with the company.

Ejekam’s connections to business in New York City goes back to his college days. He and Kriss were roommates at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. By all reports, Kriss and Ejekam were very close associates during their time at Wharton. Soon after Kriss was promoted to his position as chief financial officer, Ejekam came to be employed by the Bayrock Group to assist with several real estate development projects.

Bayrock Group, a successful New York City real estate development company, has partnered with Donald Trump and the Trump Organization on several high-profile real estate development and management projects. Some of those projects include the Trump SoHo and the Conrad Fort Lauderdale.

However, some of the top Bayrock executives have driven the company into the heart of multiple scandals, even though most of the Bayrock people operated legitimately and had productive deals with investors.

Michael Chudi Ejekam and Jody Kriss are deeply entrenched in the Bayrock legal mess. For the past three years, they have been central players in a $1 billion extortion scheme against Bayrock themselves, as well as Donald and Ivanka Trump, and several dozen other high-profile individuals, law firms, politicians, and real estate companies.

One of the law firms named in the complaint brought forth by Kriss and Ejekam is Akerman Senterfitt. This firm had employed Kriss’ father (Ronald), a former Bayrock legal advisor acting as General Counsel prior to the suit. Upon noting their name in the billion dollar suit, he was directly released from the firm.

The two attorneys representing Kriss and Ejekam in the extortion suit, Frederick Oberlander and Richard Lerner, have been referred multiple times for criminal prosecution in the case. Issues arose regarding their unethical and illegal practices in obtaining and using sealed government documents as evidence in the suit, putting several defendants’ lives in danger.

Lerner, recently removed from his firm, Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker, and Oberlander, recently cited for animal abuse in Manhattan, are challenging the criminal investigation referrals, which were brought down by U.S. Federal Judge, Brian M. Cogan. With charges eminent, the U.S. Attorney’s office in New York’s Northern District is investigating and waiting for the appropriate time to make it official.

Real estate fraud and Ponzi schemes do not seem to be the limit of questionable business practices for Michael Chudi Ejekam and Jody Kriss. It is widely believed that Kriss has deep-seeded connections with the Persico Mafia crime family, and has been accused of attempting to have yet another former Bayrock co-worker murdered. Allegations have also been made that Kriss has engaged in participating in money laundering for kingpins in the Russian mob while working at Bayrock and possibly beyond.
