Amber Rose to get over $1M from Wiz Khalifa based on Prenup

WizAmber-SFTA5_edit

She may be devastated over her split from 27 year old Wiz Khalifa, but Amber Rose who would be 31 next month would be smiling to the bank by virtue of her prenup agreement.TMZ reports
Amber Rose will score more than a million bucks from Wiz Khalifa … based on a long prenup she demanded before getting married … Amber made numerous demands in the prenup … which is more than 8 pages long. We’re told it’s because she will get more money in her 1-year-marriage than she would without a prenup.
She does have a problem. According to her legal docs, Amber wants spousal support in addition to her million bucks. Our sources say the prenup specifically denies her the right to spousal support, in return for getting the 1-time payout.
Wiz is said to be worth $30million

Model Danii Phae attacked by rapper boyfriend

Model Danii Phae wrote on her Tumblr page that she was battered by her ex-boyfriend, a struggling rapper named Justin Joseph aka J$tash. Below is what she said happened to her...in her own words.
"This is very hard for me at this moment in my life to express my heart/mind to the world, but I will say these last few months have been the worst months of my life. I was dating someone (J$tash) that abused me verbally, emotionally and physically throughout the end duration of our relationship. Monday morning on September 15th 2014 my life was forever, changed. A person I thought and believed I could trust, whom I gave my love/time/energy to brutally punched me in my face repeatedly with his fists while I became slowly unconscious covered in blood in his brooklyn apartment bed.

"After he was done he told me to not tell anyone to not tell my friends, He also started to prepare legal action to protect himself in case I pressed charges against him. He cried and became unstable within his emotions and was apologetic towards his actions, but would continue to say i did this to myself.
He then boarded a flight to Japan a few hours after and has been sending me text messages claiming he will destroy me even more than he already did. He said he will ruin my life! I got brutally beaten for confronting him on infidelity which caused him to become violent in an instant.
Do not interpret this as a cry for help this is honestly a decision to speak up against domestic violence for those who cant due to the manipulative acts our abusers inflict on us to never speak up and for those who didn’t survive because of brutal domestic violence.
I will not allow myself to sit in the shadows of darkness and disrespect myself for not taking a stand.
I am speaking out for all my women!
Be brave this is what bravery looks like.

President Obama has faced three times as many threats on his life as past president

President Obama has faced three times as many threats as previous presidents, reports the Washington Post. The number comes from "people briefed on the Secret Service's threat assessment" — and it makes the rest of the Post's story all the more disturbing.
President Obama has faced three times as many threats as previous presidents
On November 11, 2011, Oscar Ortega-Hernandez pulled up to the front gate of the White House, aimed a Romanian-made Cugir semiautomatic rifle at the residence, and fired. At least seven of his shots hit the White House. Sasha Obama was in the residence at the time. Malia Obama was on her way home. The attack was brazen enough that it was literally live-tweeted. "Driver in front of my cab, STOPPED and fired 5 gun shots at the White House," wrote one bystander.
But, as the Post reports, the Secret Service's response was a disaster. Agents were told to stand down, that it was just a car backfiring. Later, the story was changed to gang members shooting at each other just outside the White House. Agents who believed the shots had been fired at the residence were afraid to contradict their superiors. The truth was only discovered when a housekeeper noticed broken glass on the Truman Balcony. Ortega-Hernandez was only captured because he crashed his car.
As Carol Leonnig reports in a searing reconstruction:
A subsequent internal security review found that the incident illustrated serious gaps.
The Secret Service, for instance, could not use any of the dozens of ShotSpotter sensors installed across the city to help police pinpoint and trace gunshots. The closest sensor was more than a mile away, too far to track Ortega's shots.
Sullivan acknowledged in closed congressional briefings that the agency lacked basic camera surveillance that could have helped agents see the attack and swarm the gunman immediately.
Ortega-Hernandez was a lone lunatic. But what if he wasn't? What if the attack had been more expertly planned, using more serious weaponry, by people with more expertise?
The Secret Service's surveillance cameras have been upgraded. But the article makes clear that it's the agency's culture, not just its technology, that needs to be fixed. Secret Service Officer Carrie Johnson has chosen a job where she might need to lay down her life — but even though she was right about the White House being fired at, she said she didn't contradict her superiors "for fear of being criticized."
Read Leonnig's full story here. The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee will hold a hearing on "new concerns about the Secret Service" on Tuesday.

Suspected Ebola patient now in isolation at Dallas Presbyterian Hospital

(NaturalNews) A patient suspected of harboring Ebola is now in isolation at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. According to breaking news reports, the patient is suspected of carrying Ebola because of his medical symptoms and travel history. This means the patient recently visited areas where Ebola has been actively circulating such as Sierra Leone, Liberia or Guinea.

Ebola

A statement released by the hospital reads:

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas has admitted a patient into strict isolation to be evaluated for potential Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) based on the patient's symptoms and recent travel history. The hospital is following all Centers for Disease Control and Texas Department of Heath recommendations to ensure the safety of patients, hospital staff, volunteers, physicians and visitors. The CDC anticipates preliminary results tomorrow.

CBS News has been covering the breaking story and reports speaking with a county HHS official: [1]

CBS 11 News spoke with Dallas County Health and Human Services Director Zachary Thompson who confirmed the patient had been in an area where the Ebola virus exists. "Looking at the travel history is the first indicator and then the next step is [treatment or non-treatment] once we get lab results," he said.

If Ebola appears in the USA, people will panic

Whether or not this patient turns out to have Ebola, the likelihood of Ebola making its way into the continental United States increases with each passing day that it spreads unabated across African nations.

I have publicly predicted the possibility of Ebola arriving in the United States and unleashing a public panic. This scenario was covered in detail in chapter 8 of my free online course Pandemic Preparedness found at www.BioDefense.com

In anticipation of an expected Ebola outbreak in the United States, the U.S. government has already ordered 160,000 hazmat suits, and the Governor of Kansas just declared October to be Zombie Preparedness Month in the hopes that the theme will nudge more Kansas citizens into taking action on preparedness.

Millions of people already under quarantine due to Ebola

Currently, two million residents of Sierra Leone are living under government quarantines, with food shortages already widely reported. If an Ebola outbreak begins to spread in the United States, there is little question that the federal government will declare and enforce quarantines of cities or even entire regions.

Once those quarantines go into place, routine deliveries of food and other supplies are likely to be sharply restricted or disrupted.

The question on everyone's mind right now is "If this patient in Dallas turned out to be carrying Ebola, did he infect anyone else?" And for how long was he able to mingle with other patients or medical staff before he was isolated?

In Africa, hospital staff were among the very first people infected. The continued, persistent spread of MRSA and other superbugs across U.S. hospitals proves that even first-world medical staff are unable to prevent the spread of infectious disease in their own hospitals.

Chris Brown Shoved Woman Who Tried To Kiss Him While With Girlfriend Karrueche Tran

Chris Brown

Chris Brown may be in trouble with the law again after shoving a female fan who tried to kiss him during a nightclub appearance in Houston, Texas. Brown pled guilty to simple assault earlier this month to settle a case related to a sidewalk fight last October with a man at hotel in Washington, D.C.

Brown had another close encounter over the weekend while performing at Limelight Houston. While he was walking through the crowd with his girlfriend, 26-year-old model Karrueche Tran, an unidentified woman stepped in front of Brown and reached out apparently to kiss him. Brown shoved the woman with his right forearm, brushing her out of the way. TMZ said the woman didn't appear to be hurt.

Brown has a history of violence, stemming from his attack on then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. Most recently, in September, Brown pled guilty to misdemeanor assault for punching photograph-seeking fan Parker Adams, 25, of Beltsville, Maryland. "I would like to tell the court I'm sorry," Brown said in the D.C. Superior Court, according to the Washington Post. Brown, 25, was sentenced to time served after he spent two days in a D.C. jail following his arrest and was ordered to pay $150 in court costs. Brown previously pleaded guilty in the case and his trial had been set for April, but was delayed, according to the Associated Press.

Brown was initially arrested for felony assault after allegedly punching Adams in the face, TMZ reports. Brown was posing for a photo with two fans when Adams and another man rushed to get into the picture. The performer, who didn't appear to be under the influence of alcohol, reportedly said, “I’m not into this gay s--t, I’m into boxing,” before punching Adams in the face. The fight allegedly continued on the ground.

'RHOA' star Porsha Williams dating married Nigerian tycoon; wife sends warning

According to "a rock solid source," Porsha is actually dating Bashorun Jide Omokore, a billionaire oil tycoon who is the chairman and CEO of several oil companies. He's so rich that he had no problem gifting Porsha a half a million dollar custom Rolls Royce. Not only is Bashorun rich, he's also powerful, with strong political ties in Nigeria.

The problem for Porsha, however, is that he's married to a woman who doesn't like her husband having a mistress. His wife is Angela Ebagua, a Nigerian bank executive. According to the source, Angela knows about Porsha and has sent a warning that she's not afraid to get physical to protect her marriage. "His wife said that if Porsha comes back to Nigeria, she's gonna beat her ass," the source said.

Interestingly enough, Porsha is not the only Atlanta housewife to be accused of seeing a rich and married Nigerian businessman. Her co-star Kenya Moore, who talked quite a bit about being in a relationship with an "African prince" last season, was accused of being romantically involved with billionaire Tonye Cole, a married man with three kids. There was also a report that her man was actually Nigerian singer D’Banj. For the past couple of months however, Kenya hasn't made much mention of her African prince on her social media accounts. Perhaps it was all just made up?

NEWS: Kim Kardashian Keeps It Classy By Going Nude

The reality star and her 15-month-old daughter show off their similar tastes in fashion.
It's never too early to start molding your infant child in your own image, or at least Kim Kardashian seems to think so.

The reality star posted this Instagram photo of her and her little girl North West that showed off their similar fashion tastes. That is, assuming a 15-month-old baby has the capacity for rational decision making and a prodigious eye for fashion and chose that outfit.
Kim was in a revealing sheer number, and she had decked North out in a similar sheer black-laced top with black pants and adorable black boots.

The 33-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians star sat in the front row of the Givenchy runway show at Paris Fashion Week with North and her husband Kanye.

The Balmain Fashion Show Was Kris Jenner's First Ever

Despite all of her worldliness, we learned something new about Kris Jenner last night. “This is the first fashion show that I’ve ever been to,” she confessed to Yahoo Style at the Balmain after-party. “I was telling Olivier [Rousteing], ‘I am so excited that your show is my first show because I felt like a princess.’ It was an amazing experience and Kendall was walking the show and I got to sit front row, and they dressed me, and I’m in Paris. I had one of the best days of my life.”
And a good day it was, marking the matriarch’s first outing since finalizing her divorce, and though Kim and Kanye were long gone from the chic fĂŞte at Le Marois, Jenner was clearly having a delightful time. “I’m sitting here and getting a chance to think about how great Kendall did for the first time today,” she said. “I’m so proud.”

Ever the pro, she brushed off the day’s earlier media scrum (when Kim was jostled by a ravenous crowd). “It was a little nuts, but you know, we’re here. We made it. We’re inParis until the end of fashion week. We want to go to Givenchy and Chanel.” Soon she was off again, this time to hit the dance floor with Kendall while fellow catwalkers Issa Lish, Hanne Gaby Odiele, and Kasia Struss bopped along nearby. Oh to be young and free!

Kendra Wilkinson Describes Finding Out About Hank Baskett Cheating Rumor: "I've Come Very Close to Divorcing Him"

This summer has not been easy for Kendra Wilkinson Baskett.
The Kendra on Top star, who just welcomed her second child in May, has opened up to E! News' Giuliana Rancic about her marriage in the wake of rumors that Hank Baskett, her husband of five years, had cheated on her with a transsexual woman.

A person who reportedly passed a polygraph test meant to ensure she wasn't lying about her side of the story.

"I get a call one night, from my agent, and he said to me, ‘Hey Kendra, you know there's a rumor going around, about you and Hank'. The story is about the husband cheating on his wife with a transsexual," Kendra recalled during an exclusive sit-down for the upcoming interview special, Beyond Candid With Giuliana: Kendra Wilkinson Baskett.

"This happened five weeks after giving birth to my daughter, and here we are with our newborn baby, and little Hank, and we get a call saying, ‘Hank cheated on me with a transsexual?' I just laughed about it," the former Girls Next Door star continued, remembering the details of what ended up being a life-altering day.
Moreover, Hank was right there next to her when she got the first call, Kendra said.
She asked Hank, "'Did you do something?' And he says no, so I believed him."

Kendra Wilkinson-Baskett
Not long after the cheating rumor first made headlines, Kendra started leaving the house without her wedding ring—because she had flushed it down the toilet.
"I went looking for evidence, I found nothing," she told Giuliana, noting that she had also heard about photographs that made the rounds of Hank's jeep supposedly parked outside the woman's apartment.
Asked if the rumor involving a transsexual woman made her feel any differently than it if had been more of a run-of-the-mill story, Kendra said, "It would have been the same feeling, cheating is cheating. I take my wedding rings off, right in front of him. I drop them in the toilet, he's flipping out, and I just flush the rings down the toilet.
"I'm yelling at him, saying, 'Get out of my house!'"
Kendra Wilkinson, Alijah Mary Baskett, Hank Baskett, Hank Jr
Kendra further recalled telling Hank—"he's still a great father"—to take their kids to New Mexico with him to get them out of the media glare.
Speaking of which, Kendra also responded to those who have wondered whether she and Hank drummed up some drama for their show's ratings, considering they kept shooting the new season of Kendra on Top throughout the summer.

"I wish we did," she sighed. "It is the most insulting thing out of all this, that people think that this is fate. Iw ould never do this to myself. You know, I would never degrade myself like that."
As for Hank, "Overall he was denying the whole thing. I don't know what to believe. Yes, I'm seriously mad at Hank because I know something happened. I've come very close to divorcing him already."

Woman hit by California officer gets $1.5 million

CHP Reaches $1.5M Settlement With Woman in Videotaped Beating

  • LOS ANGELES (AP) — A woman punched repeatedly by a California Highway Patrol officer on the side of a freeway in an incident caught on video will receive $1.5 million under a settlement, and the officer has agreed to resign.

CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow confirmed the settlement in an emailed statement and an attorney for Marlene Pinnock confirmed the dollar amount for The Associated Press.
The punching occurred after motorists' 911 calls reported that Pinnock, who is bipolar, was walking along the freeway and the responding officer pulled her from traffic, according to a legal document in the case.

Wednesday's settlement agreement came after a nine-hour mediation session in Los Angeles.
"When this incident occurred, I promised that I would look into it and vowed a swift resolution," Farrow's statement said. "Today, we have worked constructively to reach a settlement agreement that is satisfactory to all parties involved."

The statement said that Officer Daniel Andrew, who joined the CHP in 2012 and has been on paid administrative leave since the incident, "has elected to resign."
Andrew could still be charged criminally in the case. The CHP forwarded the results of its investigation of the incident to Los Angeles County prosecutors last month, saying he could face serious charges but none have been filed yet.
  •
The bulk of the settlement will take the form of a special needs trust for Pinnock, the CHP said.
Pinnock's attorney Caree Harper said the settlement fulfilled the two elements her side was looking for.
"One of the things we wanted to make sure of was that she was provided for in a manner that accommodated her unique situation in life," Harper said, "and that the officer was not going to be an officer anymore and we secured those things."

Harper said Pinnock will be interviewed by the district attorney's office within a few weeks.
The July 1 video of Andrew punching Pinnock was recorded by a passing driver on Interstate 10 west of downtown Los Angeles.
According to a search warrant made public in court documents last month, Andrew had just pulled Pinnock from oncoming traffic and she resisted by pushing him after multiple drivers called 911 to report her walking barefoot along the side of the freeway.
Andrew then straddled her on the ground as Pinnock resisted by "kicking her legs, grabbing the officer's uniform and twisting her body," the warrant said. Andrew "struck her in the upper torso and head several times with a closed right fist," the records say.
The warrant said Pinnock suffered no signs of physical injury and refused medical treatment. She was placed on a psychiatric hold for two weeks.
Pinnock has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and had been off her medication for two to three months before the altercation.
In an interview with the AP last month, Pinnock said she believed the officer was trying to kill her.
"He grabbed me, he threw me down, he started beating me," she said. "I felt like he was trying to kill me, beat me to death."

Nick Cannon: ‘I Had Nothing To Do With Amber’s Divorce’

Nick Cannon’s camp says don’t put his name in the divorce drama between Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa.
The America’s Got Talent host, who is going through his own split from wife Mariah Carey, was rumored to have had a fling with Rose outside of taking her on as a client in his management firm.
But sources close to Nick tell TMZ that his relationship with Amber is strictly professional. Nick insists nothing happened in the cheating department.

Amber Rose Divorce: Amber Leaves Wiz Khalifa For Mariah Carey’s Ex?

    Wiz Khalifa
Amber Rose has filed for divorce from her husband, Wiz Khalifa, after just one year of marriage. According to TMZ, Rose filed divorce papers on Monday, citing those ever-popular irreconcilable differences as her reason for the split. Amber has requested full custody of the couple’s son, 1-year-old Sebastian. As far as other details about the split, Amber and Wiz did have a prenup, and the terms will likely stand.
“Amber acknowledges there’s a prenup, which you would think would work in Wiz’ favor, but she says it’s valid… presumably, she’s not challenging it. The docs say the prenup provides spousal support.”
Rumors that Amber Rose has been hooking up with Mariah Carey’s soon-to-be ex-husband (presumably) Nick Cannon have exploded all over the internet. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Amber has hired her long time friend as her business manager. Sources say that Amber has had a crush on Nick for years… and that the two are leaning on each other during their respective splits.
Now, Mariah Carey has yet to file for divorce from Nick Cannon, but if there is any truth to these rumors, papers could be filed by month’s end.
Amber Rose has not made mention of her divorce from Wiz Khalifa directly, but she has posted a couple of interesting things on her Twitter and Instagram accounts since filing.

WHO Declares Nigeria,Senegal Free Of Ebola Virus | CKN Nigeria

The Minister of Health in Nigeria, Onyebuchi Chukwu has revealed that Nigeria is completely free of active Ebola cases, adding that all contacts of the deadly disease have been released from surveillance.

Chukwu made this disclosure on Tuesday, 23 September, 2014, at the United Nations General Assembly holding in New York, USA.

The UN meeting, comprising of all 193 members of the UN met in New York to among other things discuss on ways to halt the spread of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) ravaging West African countries.

This is more than two months since the index case, the late Patrick Sawyer, a Liberian-America imported the deadly virus into Lagos while on a trip for a meeting of the Economic Commission of West African States (ECOWAS) in Calabar on 23 July.
According to the minister: “Presently, there is no single case of Ebola virus disease in Nigeria – none. No cases are under treatment, no suspected cases. There are no contacts in Lagos that are still under surveillance, having completed a minimum of 21 days of observation.
    Onyebuchi Chukwu
The Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu
“None of them are showing any symptoms. Monday (22 September 2014) will mark the end of their 21 days of observation and the plan is to get them discharged from surveillance yesterday (Tuesday 23 September 2014). Nigeria will be as clean as any other country as far as Ebola virus disease is concerned.”
Prior to Chukwu’s revelation, Rivers State had been home to over 400 contacts under medical surveillance. As of Monday night, only 25 contacts remained. The deadly disease was contained in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub and Port Harcourt.

Nigeria suffered only 21 Ebola cases with seven deaths recorded after the late Sawyer imported the deadly virus into the country.

Meanwhile, Chukwu added that as Nigeria has been able to successfully contain the virus, preventing stigmatization of  Ebola survivors is still a challenge.

“Three terms became part of our lexicon: surveillance, quarantine, and isolation. Surveillance is sort of like house arrest. You don’t criminalize them. The person is actually a victim, not a criminal. We monitor their movements, the rest of the family are counselled about what contact can and can’t be done. We have contact with them every day. You can imagine what this effort must have been like when we had 300 in Lagos and over 400 in Port Harcourt.
“That is the first time we are denying that individual the comfort of his own bed. We put him in separately from the isolation ward from those who are confirmed. If malaria, we discharge them to their doctor to be treated for malaria,” the minister explained.
Chukwu also praised the Director General of the World Health Organisation, WHO, Margaret Chan for sending physicians to Nigeria.
    Dan Nwomeh
    Dan Nwomeh
“We only knew about Ebola virus through our medical books. We’ve never seen a single case of Ebola virus until this year. So we needed someone with practical experience who had seen the virus to come and train our doctors what to do and the rest, and then we took over.
“It is important that we let the world know that WHO did well in sending us doctors with practical experience. But we also worked with the CDC, UNICEF, and MSF in managing the disease,” he said.
Also speaking on the matter, the Special Assistant on Media and Communication to the minister, Dan Mwomeh confirm the cheery news on his official twitter handle @DanNwomeh .
Below are some of his tweets:

Few weeks ago, , to support its fight against the deadly Ebola Virus Disease, EVD.
This good news was announced by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, while speaking during the agreement-signing ceremony for the grant on Tuesday, 16 September, 2014.

In a related development, two leading public-health agencies on Tuesday issued dire warnings about the Ebola epidemic in West Africa, estimating that the number of cases could grow exponentially unless measures to tame the outbreak are implemented on a large scale soon.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that from 550,000 people to as many as 1.4 million people could be infected by mid-January in Liberia and Sierra Leone.

Venus and Serena Williams Go Separate Real Estate Ways

After 15-plus years sharing an 8,500-square-foot mansion in a gated Palm Beach Gardens enclave in Florida, and amid tabloid reports of a rift that their reps say is all hooey, celebrated professional tennis sisters Venus and Serena Williams — now in their 30s and still forces to be reckoned with on the court — will soon move into their own custom-built mansions in guard-gated golf developments about five miles apart.

It was Venus who bit the real estate bullet first, in December 2013, with the $825,000 purchase of a 1.03-acre parcel near the end of a cul-de-sac in a quiet corner of the Old Palm Golf Club where she’s in the process of building a contemporary residence. Younger sister Serena volleyed a huge return, shelling out $4.125 million on a privately situated 2.4 acre lot in the super-swank Bear’s Club enclave in neighboring Jupiter, where some of the other estates are owned by golfer Ernie Els, Band-Aid heiress Libet Johnson and Michael Jordan.
After Serena won the 2014 U.S. Open in September, she joked with reporters that she needed the $4 million in prize money to complete her new house, reported in Tennis magazine to be a European-style villa designed by a San Francisco architect with plans for trophy, purse and karaoke rooms. Venus sold her house in L.A.’s Nichols Canyon in March for $1.775 million to Ellen Page. Multilingual Serena owns an apartment in Paris, as well as a mini-estate in Bel Air’s Stone Canyon that she picked up in 2006 for $6.612 million.

Drake’s Alleged Ghostwriter Accuses BeyoncĂ© and Nicki Minaj of Not Writing Their Own Songs

    nicki-f
    ADVERTISEMENT
If you know any diehard Barbz or Beygency members then don’t bother contacting them today, because they have some serious revenge to organize. Shi Wisdom, the songwriter behind many of Drake’s most famous verses, recently spoke to Noisey about allegedly being the female ghostwriter who sued Drizzy for unpaid work and homegirl also dropped some truth bombs about Nicki Minaj and BeyoncĂ© not writing their own songs.

Wisdom was apparently not the woman who sued, and isn’t too interested in whether he writes his all his own stuff because that, friends, is just how things work.
To be honest with you, who cares if he doesn’t write his own stuff? It’s very evident that he’s an intelligent business person. Who in this industry writes their stuff all the time? I don’t know anybody who writes their stuff all the time that is a big artist, not one person. When you go into these meetings with these labels they tell you who is looking for songs, and it’s a bunch of people who you thought wrote their own songs.
And when she says nobody, you better believe she means it.
Everybody has writers, everybody has a team of people to put it together. Some of these people do write some of their songs, but do you really believe that Nicki Minaj writes all of her songs, with no help? To be a songwriter on a song all you have to do is contribute one word. By the time the “R.I.P.” record I did with Drake was finished, six writers including myself and him touched that song. That wasn’t the plan, but that’s what happens: Somebody comes in and says, “instead of saying ‘boy’ say ‘you.’” Now they’re a writer on the song, but that’s access. For the longest time BeyoncĂ© didn’t write any of her records. I personally still don’t believe she’s written any of her records.
Hoo boy. Wisdom isn’t exactly the first person to ever point out that Bey doesn’t write all her own songs (here’s a fairly extensive summary.) Linda Perry slammed her just two months ago for stealing song credits. But implicating Minaj proves she’s not in the game to make friends. Talk about throwing a spanner in the cogs of the industry machine.

Nigerian bishop details Boko Haram control -- and criticizes president

A version of this post appeared in Africa in Transition. The views expressed are the author's own.
With only government-controlled communication from northeastern Nigeria, there is a dearth of information about what territory Boko Haram actually controls.

However, Anglican and Roman Catholic bishops in Nigeria often are better informed about reality on the ground than anybody else because their networks of local parishes staffed by priests cover most of the country.

He lists 25 towns in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa as under Boko Haram control. With respect to Bama, possibly the second largest city in Borno, he acknowledges that the government and Boko Haram both claim control, but observes that the exodus of people from the city indicates that the Islamists have the upper hand.
The archbishop states that Boko Haram has armored tanks, armored personnel carriers, rocket launchers, anti-aircraft guns, anti-tank weapons, sub-machine guns, “new and latest guns AK47,” and  “inexhaustible boxes of ammunitions and bullets.”

The archbishop denounces the behavior of the security forces: “In the face of these attacks, they flee and ask civilians to do the same.”
He is also highly critical of the Jonathan administration: “The near inaction of the government, the lukewarm attitude and the silence of the government is very disturbing. There is a total disconnection between what our so called leaders in Abuja report in the media and reality on the ground. We wish they have the courage to fly into these areas and see things for themselves.

While the archbishop acknowledges that Boko Haram has killed many Muslims, he places Boko Haram firmly in the context of efforts to Islamicize northeast Nigeria, and that it has “an international face and connection.

If the bishop's statement is accurate, where do the armored vehicles and other weapons come from?
Given their size, it is unlikely that Boko Haram procured them from Libya or some other place outside Nigeria.
More likely is that they come from Nigerian armories, presumably stolen or supplied by Boko Haram sympathizers

Soccer-Ebola football ban on west African countries to remain

ADDIS ABABA (Reuters) - Bans on Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone hosting any international football because of fears of spreading Ebola were kept in place by the Confederation of African Football, its executive committee decided on Saturday. The three west African countries -- at the epicentre of the outbreak of the highly contagious disease -- had originally been banned from hosting all games until mid-September but has now been extended indefinitely, CAF announced. It means Guinea and Sierra Leone must again move scheduled African Nations Cup qualifiers to alternate venues next month. Guinea had to play their opening group game against Togo in Morocco earlier this month and also last weekend staged an under-17 qualifying tie in Casablanca. Sierra Leone could not find an alternate venue for their qualifier against the Democratic Republic of Congo 10 days ago and instead ceded home advantage to their opponents. Liberia have no scheduled international matches in the near future. Ebola has infected at least 5,357 people in West Africa this year, mainly in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia, killing 2,630 of those, according to the World Health Organization. The disease has also been reported in Nigeria and Senegal but these two countries have not been banned from holding games by CAF. The epidemic has brought sport to complete standstill in both Liberia and Sierra Leone.

Guinea were ironically on Saturday named as a future host of the Nations Cup finals in 2023 at the same meeting of CAF’s executive committee in the Ethiopian capital. Teams from the affected countries were also subjected to vigorous checks before being allowed to play matches in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast and Uganda earlier this month.

Sierra Leone's three-day Ebola shutdown ends

Sierra Leone has confined its six million people to their homes for 72 hours in a bid to stem a deadly outbreak of the Ebola virus
Freetown (AFP) - Millions of Sierra Leoneans emerged from their homes on Monday after a controversial nationwide lockdown during which scores of dead bodies and new cases of Ebola infections were uncovered.
The west African country had confined its six million people to their homes for 72 hours in a bid to stem a deadly outbreak which has claimed more than 2,600 lives there and in neighbouring Liberia and Guinea this year.
"We have an overflow of bodies which we still need to bury but this has been an everyday occurence since the Ebola outbreak... Now at least we have about 150 new cases," Steven Gaojia, head of the country's emergency operation centre, said late Sunday.

The country's chief medical officer earlier said up to 70 bodies had been uncovered, but these were in and around the capital, and results for the whole country are likely to push up the figures significantly.
Only essential workers such as health professionals were exempt from the shutdown, and some 30,000 volunteers who went door-to-door to hand out soap and give advice on halting the contagion.
    - Begging for their lives -
Independent observers have voiced concerns over the quality of advice being given out, deeming the shutdown a "mixed success" and complaining about the poor training of the door-to-door education teams.
Meanwhile aid organisations and medical experts questioned the feasibility of reaching 1.5 million households in three days and argued that confining people to their homes could erode trust between the government and the people.

But Health Minister Abubakarr Fofanah told AFP volunteers had managed to reach around 80 percent of homes, deeming the action a success.
"We have learnt a lot from the campaign. Although this campaign has ended, there is a possibility we would have a similar one some other time," he said.
"I cannot as of now give you statistics about the total corpses collected during the three-day period as we are now awaiting returns from other parts of the country and this will be made known as soon as the full report is compiled."
Ebola fever can fell its victims within days, causing severe muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhoea and -- in many cases -- unstoppable internal and external bleeding.
Fears of contagion have crippled the economies of affected nations, as wary workers stay home and cross border trade is disrupted.
The scale of the challenge is most evident in Liberia, where health workers at Ebola units have spoken of turning away people begging for their lives because they don't have the beds or staff to treat them.
The country said on Sunday there would be a four-fold increase in hospital beds to 1,000 for patients in the capital Monrovia by the end of October.
    - 'In denial' -
"Patients are being rejected... because there is no space. So the government is trying its best to finish the 1,000 beds so we can accommodate all the patients," Information Minister Lewis Brown told AFP.
The move comes two weeks after the World Health Organization (WHO) warned the country, worst-hit in the outbreak with more than 1,450 deaths, was about to see a huge spike in infections, with thousands of new cases imminent.
The WHO was due on Monday to publish the latest findings of its Ebola emergency committee charged with deciding on what other temporary measures should be taken to reduce the risk of the deadly virus spreading further.
A second deployment of US troops arrived on Sunday at Liberia's international airport, 55 kilometres (35 miles) east of Monrovia, as part of an eventual 3,000-strong mission to help tackle the outbreak.
The team will set up a headquarters for Major General Darryl Williams, who will oversee the US mission to train local health workers and establish additional medical facilities, he said.
Liberian health officials said action to stop the spread of the disease was also being hampered by traditional communities still ignoring advice on staying away from highly infectious dead bodies.
"Some people are still in denial. Because of that they are not listening to the rules," said Gabriel Gorbee Logan, a health officer in Bomi County, northwest of Monrovia.

Man hangs himself live on Skype while online spectators watched

26 year old Russian man Serger Kirilov (pictured above) wanted to commit suicide and so he went on Skype and announced that he planned to commit suicide and said anyone who wanted to see it could link to him on Skype.

Shockingly, many people linked up to him and watched him hang himself without trying to stop him. One spectator even allegedly said 'a real man would have killed himself more quickly.' Another said 'If a man says he's going to do something, he needs to do it.' Only one person tried to stop him.

Russian police are now trying to trace all the people who watched the suicide through their internet service providers. A Russian police spokesman said 'It is beyond belief that people could watch this as a form of entertainment. We will be investigating everyone who watched this incident, especially those who urged him to carry it out who may be guilty of negligent homicide.'
