Babatunde Fashola, the ex-governor of Lagos state, has received the Stephen J.Solarz Award from billionaire Mo Ibrahim, the founder of Mo Ibrahim Foundation.
The former governor and Minister Designate was awarded on Monday, October 26, at the 20th Anniversary Award dinner of the International Crisis Group in New York, the USA.
According to Jean-Marie Guéhenno, the president of the group, Fashola received the award “for his commitment to resolving social, economic and security challenges in one of the world’s most challenging urban environments.”
He also stated that “each award goes to a pioneer of peace, to a relentless fighter for the improvement of people’s lives, to someone who has built bridges, believed in change and mobilised others in the name of justice.”
