Photo: UNIZIK Mechanical Engineering Students Produce Mini Bus

VICE Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka , Prof. Joseph Ahaneku is a happy man now following the feat achieved by his students. This was because the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the university had again proved that it was not just good in theory but also in the practical aspect of their studies.  Seven graduating students from the department constructed a “made in Nigeria” mini bus to the satisfaction of the university community.
download
The journey into car manufacturing in the university started last year, when a group of five students from the same department produced aFormula 1 car calledAutoZIK. The seven students include Ezeigwe Chitoo, Obinani Victor, Ezeanolue Ifeanyi, Okoro Chinaza, Ominigbo Fidelis, Nwobodo Nnamdi  and Ogbu Thaddeus.
They were supervised by the Head of the department, Dr. C.H. Achebe. South East Voice learned that the group, which is known as ‘AUTOZIK II,’ spent over five months constructing the mini bus for shuttles within and around the university with locally sourced materials.
Like the popular saying, “What a man can do, a woman can do even better,” the conspicuous presence of a female, ‘Okoro Chinaza’ in the team spoke volumes. On how she was able to surmount the challenges as the only female in the midst of her male counterparts with respect to the stress associated with such herculean tasks, she said: “I had always been in their midst right from my first year in school, so it was not really a big deal.”
She disclosed that she had always followed her passion regardless of what people around said or thought.  Narrating the success story, one of the engineers, Ezeigwe Chitoo, said that the project was a dream come true.  “The Autozik group made the design using CAD software, and all necessary simulation softwares for the analysis, putting the environment into critical consideration. The bus has good seating positions, better fuel conservation, good passenger view and very good aesthetics. It was built to suit the topography of our environment and the weather condition we have in this part of the world,” he said.

Lesbian Couple Looking For Sperm Donor On Facebook, See Their Long Requirement List

Ashleigh Habgood and Alley Williams have been best friends since they were 15 and were finally married last year. The Auckland, New Zealand, newlyweds are exactly where they want to be — except they don’t have the baby they so desperately want and there is a major shortage of sperm donors in New Zealand. The couple took to Facebook on Oct. 24 to post an “advertisement” for a sperm donor.
1230
Check out their requirement list below..
We are looking for sperm with the following factors:
1. A kind heart.
2. Intelligence (though this can be measured in a myriad of ways… i.e. if you don’t know what myriad means, that doesn’t mean you’re not intelligent.)
3. You don’t want to be a dad. You just want to be a cool dude that helped us out. Though these details can be discussed. And yes, the baby would know who you are… “The kind man who gave us some sperm.” NOT “Daddy.”
4. You have a clear medical history. Ideally no diabetes, heart conditions or other genetic conditions. No HIV either please:)
5. You are taller than us. Not hard, but we’re already stunted enough.
6. You are 45 or younger. Sorry…. after 45, the risks of Autism, Schizophrenia and Dwarfism increase. And, as I mentioned, we’re already hobbits!
Optional extras:
1. You are not white. We’re not racist, just would love a mixed bub. …. But really, come one, come all…. We think you’re all beautiful. Any ethnicity is amazing.
2. You’re athletic.
3. You’re creative.
4. You’re curious.
5. You’re successful in your field. (That has nothing to do with $$)

Appeal Court Rules On Saraki’s Trial Today

The Appeal Court will today deliver judgement in the case instituted by Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, challenging the jurisdiction of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) to subject him to trial based on the 13-count charge of false assets declaration filed against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).
The CCB had filed a 13-count corruption charge against Saraki for failing to declare his assets fully, alleging that he misused state funds to purchase private assets while serving as Kwara State governor.
It would be recalled that Saraki’s lawyer, Mahmud Magaji (SAN), had urged the court to expeditiously determine his client’s appeal on the ground that time was very important in the ongoing case.

saraki-at-court

Along with the appeal, the Senate president’s lawyers also filed an application seeking for proceedings before the CCT to hold on pending the determination of his appeal.
But that would not be necessary any longer since the appellate court has promised an accelerated hearing on the issue.

The court had on Friday, October 16, after taking arguments from parties, fixed judgment for 2 pm on October 19, but failed to deliver it on the ground that the judgment was not ready.
The judgment was then reserved indefinitely, with the court promising to communicate a new date to parties.
It was gathered that notices were sent to parties informing them about today’s date.

The delay by the Court of Appeal to deliver its judgment had stalled proceedings before the CCT, which has chosen to await the Appeal Court’s decision before taking any further steps in the Senate president’s trial.

Saudi Prince Held At Lebanon Airport For Flying In With Drugs

A Saudi prince and four others were detained on Monday in Lebanon in the largest drug bust in the history of the Beirut airport, a security source said.
Saudi prince Abdel Mohsen Bin Walid Bin Abdulaziz and four others were detained by airport security while allegedly “attempting to smuggle about two tons of Captagon pills and some cocaine,” a security source told AFP.
“The smuggling operation is the largest one that has been foiled through the Beirut International Airport,” the source said on condition of anonymity.

Captagon is the brand name for the amphetamine phenethylline, a synthetic stimulant. The banned drug is consumed mainly in the Middle East and has reportedly been widely used by fighters in Syria.
The security source said the drugs had been packed into cases that were waiting to be loaded onto a private plane that was headed to Saudi Arabia.
The five Saudi citizens were still in the airport and would be questioned by Lebanon’s customs authority, the source added.
In April 2014, security forces foiled an attempt to smuggle 15 million capsules of Captagon hidden in shipping containers full of corn from Beirut’s port.
Lebanon’s state news agency also reported Monday’s drug bust, saying the private plane was to head to Riyadh and was carrying 40 suitcases full of Captagon.

MTN Nigeria fined $5.2 billion for failing to register users

MTN Group telecommunication's stock plunged 12.5 percent on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange Monday on the news that its most lucrative subsidiary, in Nigeria, has been fined $5.2 billion for failing to disconnect millions of unregistered cellphone subscribers.
FILE- In this Monday April. 22, 2013 file photo, staff of MTN Nigeria workduring the launch of mobile number portability in Lagos, Nigeria. MTN Group ...
The Nigerian Communications Commission confirmed the penalty based on 200,000 naira ($1,000) for each of 5.1 million cellphone SIM cards that had not been registered and should have been disconnected by an August deadline.
On Aug. 7, the commission issued an ultimatum ordering all cellphone providers to de-activate unregistered cards within seven days "or face severe sanctions." All the other cellphone companies in Nigeria complied, the commission said.
The South African company said in a statement Monday that it is in talks with Nigeria's regulatory body "to resolve the matter."
The $5.2 billion fine is equivalent to at least two average years' profit for MTN Nigeria and nearly three times the $1.8 billion that it has invested in the West African country, according to the company's website. Africa's leading cellphone service provider, MTN paid $285 million for one of four GSM licenses in Nigeria in 2001.
Before the cut, MTN said it had about 62 million customers among Nigeria's 170 million people in September, by far the group's biggest market.
Nigeria has about 150 million active mobile phone lines, 90 million mobile Internet users and imports 4 million cellphones each month, according to Nigeria's Federal Ministry of Communications.

Buhari Gets Certificate Delisting Nigeria From Polio Endemic Nations

WITH 15 consecutive months without any case of polio virus infection in Nigeria, the World Health Organisation (WHO) formally presented President Muhamnadu Buhari with a certificate delisting the country from the list of polio-endemic countries.
The certificate is with a proviso that if the current efforts were sustained till 2017, Nigeria will be completely de-listed from among polio infected countries of the world.
Buhari5
WHO Regional Director in Nigeria, Matshidiso Rebecca Moeti, presented the certificate to Buhari on behalf of the Director-General, Margaret Chan, at the State House Abuja yesterday.
Before now, Nigeria and war-torn Pakistan and Afghanistan, were the only polio-endemic countries in the world. But with the feat achieved by Nigeria, the WHO representative commended the country for being removed from the polio endemic nations and called for a sustained effort aimed at ensuring that the Nigeria does not relapse.
President Buhari said: “For 15 consecutive months, Nigeria has not recorded any new case of polio virus. This, as I had been briefed, is the first step towards certification of Nigeria as polio virus free country by WHO in the next two years.
“This achievement, I recall, also resonated at the 70th UN General Assembly when the Director-General of WHO, Dr. Margaret Chan, mentioned it. I therefore commend the WHO for their consistent stewardship in global health security.
“As you are aware, our efforts to eradicate this crippling disease started in 1998. It has taken a lot of toll on our country in terms of human and material resources. We are, however, not relenting as we are determined to achieve our collective goal of saving our children from further paralysis from polio.”
He assured the delegation that there would be no complacency, “as we will maintain and improve on our surveillance system as well as raise the childhood population immunity against the polio virus to avoid any spread of the disease. The Federal Government will sustain the current momentum and we shall continue to regard this campaign as an emergency until we are declared polio free in the next two years.”

“We regularly assess the impact our content have on our customers and we reassure them that their interests are always considered.
“However, we take comfort in knowing that our decoders are encrypted with the parental control feature that empowers parents with ultimate control over what their children view.
“We also encourage parents to make use of this feature as much as possible to ensure that their children only watch what their parents deem appropriate.
NAN reports that Nigerians on Sunday took to various social media platforms with messages to protest the airing of the movie.

Donald Trump: ''Africans Are Lazy Fools Only Good At Lovemaking And Stealing”

“Some Africans are lazy fools only good at eating, lovemaking and Stealing” – Donald Trump

By Christine Mendoza

Once again, US business magnate Donald Trump has expressed his deep disgust for Africans by referring to them as lazy fools only good at eating, lovemaking and thuggery. Speaking in Indianapolis, Trump who is also the republican Presidential torch bearer reiterated his promise to deport Africans especially those of Kenyan origin including their son Barrack Obama.

“African Americans are very lazy. The best they can do is gallivanting around ghettoes, lamenting how they are discriminated. These are the people America doesn’t need. They are the enemies of progress. Look at African countries like Kenya for instance, those people are stealing from their own government and go to invest the money in foreign countries. From the government to opposition, they only qualify to be used as a case study whenever bad examples are required. How do you trust even those who have ran away to hide here at the United States hiding behind education? I hear they abuse me in their blogs but I don’t care because even the internet they are using is ours and we can decide to switch it off from this side. These are people who import everything including matchsticks. In my opinion, most of these African countries ought to be recolonized again for another 100 years because they know nothing about leadership and self governance” Explained Donald Trump bitterly as he illuminated how he plans to reconstruct America and restore its lost glory.

“I promise to make America great again by restoring our dignity that we have since lost through Obama. The more reason why I still believe that he, and his Kenyan brothers and sisters should be deported back to Kenya to make America safe”

Sources have indicated that Trump’s thrush did not augur well with the Carson Camp and they have since distanced themselves from Trump words.
