British chocolate to be banned from America after trademark dispute between Hershey and Cadbury

British chocolate to be banned from America
America and the UK have been allies for many years, however that relationship could be about to melt (like a nice bar of chocolate in your mouth) as Cadbury has been banned from importing its products to the shores of the US.
Hershey, one of the largest chocolate manufacturers in America, was behind the ban after claiming trademark infringement as they have a licence which enables them to make Cadbury’s chocolate in the US (but with a different, and presumably worse, recipe).
British ex-pats, and people who just enjoy some good old fashioned Cadbury chocolate bars, have reportedly been rushing to the shops across America to stock up on supplies of the British made chocolate.

Several other British candies (or as we call them – sweeties) have been blacklisted from the states because their packaging or design resembles American goodies too closely, including Toffee Crisps and Maltesers (their loss, surely?).

However if there is one thing that can bring people back together after corporations try to split them apart, it’s a mutual love of chocolate.
People from both sides of the pond have been tweeting their intention to #BoycottHershey for depriving many Americans of their favourite chocolate.
Speaking to the NYPost, a Hershey spokesperson said the move was ‘to prevent consumers from being confused or misled’.

‘It’s important for [the company] to protect its trademark rights,’ they added.
