Cultists Attack Police, Destroy Patrol Vehicles

It was gathered that the cultists from the Eiye confraternity was said to have engaged a rival-gang in a supremacy battle in the area, as residents said the gang went from house to house in search of rivals.
The residents further stated that the gang shot and destroyed vehicles parked on the streets.
A resident who requested anonymity said: “We alerted the police and following the distress call, a team of  policemen swoop on the gang about 10pm on September 10, but the cultists mobilized and attacked the police team.”
A police source who corroborated the attack  said: “They started stoning police vehicles and damaged the windscreens of the two patrol vans; they fled but a team of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) officers arrested one of them.
“Investigation reveals that the suspect is a member of the Eiye confraternity, one of the cult groups making lives difficult for residents of Mushin, Akala, Idi-Oro and its environs.”
ACP Disu advised parents and guardians to monitor their wards and children’s behaviour.
He  further urged residents to report any suspicious movements of criminals in their neighbourhood to the police, promising that the security agents will swing into action.
The suspect has been transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Ikeja, for further investigation.
