SEE The World’s Most Expensive Painting

Picasso’s Women of Algiers has become the most expensive painting to sell at auction, which went for $179.3m (£115m) at Christie’s in New York. It was auctioned yesterday and it was believed to be sold at $140m but was eventually sold for $179.3m has potential buyers increased.
 
The previous world record for a painting sold at auction was $142.4m, for British painter Francis Bacon’s Three Studies of Lucian Freud. That sold at Christie’s in 2013.
Experts believe the investment value of art is behind the high prices.

Nigerian Female Student in Malaysia Sentenced to Death for Drug Trafficking

A Nigerian female student in Malaysia identified as Mary George Unazi, has been sentenced to death by the Malaysian High Court on Thursday, May 14th for trafficking 765.9gm of methamphetamine at the KL International Airport (KLIA) on May 10th 2011.

The presiding judge, Judge Datuk Ghazali Cha, while delivering his judgment said all evidence brought against her proved that she was indeed guilty of trafficking the banned substance. He said she had failed on her part to convince the court that the bag which contained the substance wasn’t hers.
30-year-old Unazi was arrested at the baggage claim area at the international arrival hall of KLIA. She was charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 of Malaysia which carries a mandatory death penalty upon conviction.
